Dearest Libertines,
Hang on to your napkins Libertines, this has to be our most excited e-newsletter yet!
Firstly next weekend, starting Thursday 26th August is the Taste of Melbourne, held at the Royal Exhibition Building, Carlton Gardens. Libertine and Le Traiteur have a stall and we've been flat to the boards preparing our three dishes for the thousands of excited ticket holders. We're thrilled to be the only French restaurant with a permanent stall! Come in for lunch or dinner at Libertine in the run up to the event for your discounted Taste tickets.
Secondly because of Taste, we're unable to do our long Saturday lunch this month, next one is September 25th - already popular and worth waiting for! 4 courses & wine $60pp 9329 5228.
Thirdly, Tuesday September 7th is our 'Beltane' Dinner - our tribute to this ancient Pagan festival of fire, celebrating the end of winter and the coming of spring. In line with this theme, we've unearthed bio-dynamically minded wine-maker Neil Prentice who produces with the phases of the moon, wines under the Holly's Garden and Prentice Wines labels. To accompany him, Will Flamsteed from Smith's Vineyard in Beechworth, who makes his wines according to organic principles. Both winemakers will talk you through eight biodynamic/organic wines, how they are made and why they are so good for us(!), over four courses, including wagyu from Neil's Moondarra property in Gippsland. We're linking this event with Melbourne Food and Wine Festival's September Spring Graze promotion, to be advertised this weekend. Come get heathen with us, tickets won't last long! 4 courses, tea/coffee & 8 wines $110 pp. 9329 5228.
Fourthly, it's Pinot Battle II Tuesday 14th September! And what a match up it is! Come and taste Gisborne vs Geelong represented by a clash of the titans, Michael Dhillon of Bindi vs Ray Nadeson of Lethbridge! Both winemakers have been Gourmet Traveller Wine Maker of the Year finalists and will be flexing their talents and showing off their favourites including Michael's 2008 Block 5 pinot noir and Ray's 2007 Allegra chardonnay. There will be 10 wines across 4 courses with coffee/tea to follow, $145pp. Book your tickets, I have a feeling this one will be popular! 9329 5228. Menus for both dinners to be posted shortly on our website.
Lastly it's our fifth birthday next month, hence the fun events above - stay tuned for more in the coming weeks!
Yours in excess,
Zoe, Nick & the Liber-team |
